Why to avoid- PG CLAMP with Extended joint on Electrical Transmission line

1. PG clamp tigtness depends upon the groove setting and use of number of bolts. Under no condition the tightning shall be perfect. So preference for boltless clamp or T CLAMP 2. In case of emergency/ practice/ non- availabiity etc.. NO EXTENDED CONDUCTOR/JUMPER at the joint as like shown here. Because this no current extended part with voltage results ionising path on the tip and develops spark to attempt for current jump to the adjacent conductor. So, the conductor strands may cause pitting with final failure of jumper. Please avoid such, in case of emergency, NO EXTENDED PORTION at the joint. 3. Effect JUMPER CONE and connected PG clamp: Because of this arrangement, JUMPER CONE becomes NO CURRENT CARRYING HARDWARE as PG clamp got fixed on the face. Now the PG clamp on the conductor portion shall suffer with UNEVEN TEMPERATURE and on climatic change condition may allow moisture/dust deposition on the groove, which slowly will damage the strands of main conductor and perma...
